Have you heard of polished concrete?

I have twelve thousand feet of showroom space. We have a warehouse type store that has a lot of foot traffic, as well as palette jacks and the occasional fork lift driving around on it. I used to have those square tiles that you have to wax once in a while and the level of wear on them was simply brutal. Paths would be worn into the highest traffic areas, a combination of scuff marks from the wheels of equipment and shoes, in addition to permanently ground in wear due to the softness of the flooring material. My ideal scenario would be a stone floor, as tile would not be robust enough to handle the weight and items occasionally dropping. Granite would be perfect in that it is so strong, so wear resistant and beautiful, but twelve thousand square feet of granite would probably cost enough to put us out of business.
My flooring guy asked if I would be interested in polished concrete. I had never heard of it, so I had him explain what polished concrete was. He went over the entire process from beginning to end, and it sounded like the same thing you would do to pour a traditional concrete floor, except in that the material used is of the correct kind to do a polished concrete floor. It also can by stained and tinted as desired to create a more stone like look once the final polish is done. The polished concrete floor was quoted to me at a price that was far superior to any other stone or stone alternative material, and the durability is practically unmatched. Underneath the gloss, polished concrete is still concrete with all the durability and hardness retained. Once the process is complete, the polished concrete will last a long, long time and people will probably think I have granite or something else super expensive.
